THE CELEBRATION

Innovation Can’t Wait is a celebration of student entrepreneurship at The Union League of Philadelphia. This exciting program, featuring a talk and performance by Jon Dorenbos, supports our wonderful students who are developing new ideas, initiatives and businesses that are making the world a better place. Funds raised will be used for entrepreneurship programming such as the Entrepreneurship Co-op where the Charles D. Close School provides student startups with office space and $15,000 to fund their business. Each guest will receive a copy of Jon’s memoir, Life is Magic: My Inspiring Journey from Tragedy to Self-Discovery.

The Charles D. Close School of Entrepreneurship is the nation’s first independent school of entrepreneurship that offers degrees, unique courses, and experiential programming to enhance the entrepreneurial mindset of students – for their life and career. We provide students with personalized coaching for their startups, space, mentors, connections and other resources. More importantly, we offer courses and programming to develop their entrepreneurial character – the resilience, initiative, creativity, and curiosity that comprise the hallmark of an entrepreneur.

JON DORENBOS

Known for his contagious energy and his passion for life, former Philadelphia Eagles long snapper and America’s Got Talent finalist Jon Dorenbos weaves his inspirational story with world-class magic and comedy that has made him a regular on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Each guest will receive a copy of Life is Magic: My Inspiring Journey from Tragedy to Self-Discovery. 2019 Innovators

These Drexel graduates have enacted change through innovation and have used an entrepreneurial mindset to solve seemingly impossible problems. Hear their incredible stories of entrepreneurship during the ceremony. Their stories are all different; but their passion, resilience and ambition are all shared traits. 

Evan Ehlers

Evan is the CEO of Sharing Excess, a non-profit that uses leftover food to feed those who need it. Ehlers was awarded Drexel’s 2019 Outstanding Student Award and the 2019 Co-op Achievement Award.

Paris Gramann

Paris is the founder of Just Be Books, a children's book series for mental health. It includes an empowerment kit designed to help parents. "A Parent and Teacher's new favorite tool for mental health education."

Sheetal Bahirat

Sheetal is the founder of Avoh Elixir, a superior antioxidant-rich ready-to-drink beverage made from avocado seeds. Their patented process extracts the nutrients from the seeds and makes the seeds compostable, helping reduce food waste.
